PARENTS and the town council have reacted angrily after human excrement was discovered at a children’s play park.

According to Dawlish Town Council, this is not the first time human defecation has happened at the popular Manor Gardens play park.

One parent discovered the mess on a swing seat and on the ground when they took their son to the park.

Now Dawlish Town Council says it has informed the police.

A spokesman said: ‘It has come to our attention that a repeat instance of human defecation has occurred at the Manor Gardens Play Park.

‘This is totally unacceptable and has been reported to the police.’

The council said after the ‘recent reported incidents’, the area has been quickly cleaned and sanitised to sneer the safety and enjoyment of children and families who use the area.

The spokesman continued: ‘This behaviour will not be tolerated, and where possible, Dawlish Town Council and Devon and Cornwall Police will take further action.

‘The Manor Gardens Play Park is a place for our community to enjoy, and we ask all residents and visitors to treat it with respect.

‘Let’s work together to keep Dawlish a safe and welcoming place for everyone.’

The parent described trying to take their son to the park.

But when taking him to the swings, they said: ‘Unfortunately someone’s decided to release their bowels all over one of them with a big pile underneath it.

‘I would avoid the swings until it gets cleaned up.

‘Considering the amount of bushes and secluded areas around the park, it seems a bit weird.’

The £320,000 state-of-the-art play park was opened in 2023.

Dawlish Town Council is asking anyone who sees any ‘inappropriate behaviour’ to report it immediately to the authorities.
