PARENTS and carers are being warned to make sure their children are safe following an incident when a student was asked to get into a car.

The safeguarding alert was issued following the incident which happened in the Hele Park area of Newton Abbot.

Details appear to be that a secondary school age student was stopped by an adult.

The incident took place on Thursday October 3 at about 8pm.

The student was said to have been stopped by the adult and pressurised into giving the adult their phone number and told to get into the car.

It seems another adult stopped to help after feeling the circumstances were not ‘right’ and made sure the student was safe.

No further details have been released so it is not known if the adult was male or female.

Police have been informed.

The warning to parents has asked them to check their children feel confident to deal with any such situation.
