FIVE tonnes of silage was damaged after a tractor burst into flames in Chudleigh.
Firefighters from Newton Abbot dealt with the drama in Lower Dunscombe Lane late on Tuesday afternoon.
The town’s environmental protection team was also called out to help with diesel fuel run-off and firefighting foam which were in danger of finding their way into a local stream.
Environment Agency officers were informed of the possible hazard.
A fire spokesman said the incident happened in a yard where two jets and compressed air foam were used to snuff out the blaze.
The cause of the fire was accidental, the spokesman added.
The tractor suffered severe damage.
