AN Exeter City fan from Teignbridge has been banned from attending football matches for three years.
Jason Commins, 23 and from Ide, was issued with a Civil Football Banning Order for a period of three years after a hearing at Exeter Magistrates’ Court.
The punishment, imposed on Monday (july 30), will prevent him from attending regulated football matches in England and Wales, as well as stop him travelling abroad to watch the England team.
Evidence provided by police revealed his part in disorder, or attempted disorder, at the following matches:
· August 2013 Exeter City v Bristol Rovers
· October 2013 Exeter City v Plymouth Argyle
· August 2014 Plymouth Argyle v Exeter City
· April 2016 Exeter City v Plymouth Argyle
· June 2016 European Championships in Marseille, France
· January 2017 Portsmouth v Exeter City
· February 2017 Plymouth Argyle v Exeter City
· May 2017 Exeter City v Carlisle United
· August 2017 Swindon Town v Exeter City.
As well as the three year ban, Commins was ordered to pay £400 costs to Devon and Cornwall Police.
Supt Matt Lawler said after the hearing: ‘We make use of football banning orders to ensure that regulated football matches in Devon and Cornwall, as well as other parts of the country, are safe and enjoyable for all supporters who want to enjoy football.
‘We will continue to seek these banning orders on those who cause or contribute to violence and disorder connected to football matches.’
He thanked the Force Football Unit for their hard work in the case, and their continued efforts in ensuring that football was a safe and enjoyable experience in the two counties.
