ONE person has been seriously injured in a road accident in Dawlish between a disability scooter and a car,

Reports have come in of the incident which has caused severe hold-ups throughout the town with the main road closed in both directions.

Eye witnesses say the accident happened on Elm Grove Road.

Others have reported traffic at a standstill and tailed back coming in and out of Dawlish.

Diversions have been put in place.

A police spokesman said: ‘Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a disability scooter on Exeter Road, Dawlish, at around 11.55am today, Wednesday 13 November.

‘Emergency services are at the scene.

‘One person has been reported to have serious injuries.

‘The road has been closed in both directions.

‘The incident is ongoing.’
