ELECTRICAL engineers switched off more than 22,000 customers’ electricity in the Newton Abbot area last night causing widespread disruption. Western Power Distribution confirmed there was a circuit breaker fault on Brunel Industrial Estate and engineers used an auto fault find, which switches off power in the surrounding area to allow them to find it. Most customers had their power restored within the hour. A spokesman for Western Power said: ‘We do not think it’s linked to the power cut in TQ12 earlier this week.’ Reports on our Facebook page suggest that the areas of Newton Abbot affected were Bradley Barton, Abbotsbury, Coombeshead, Buckland and Milber. Other surrounding areas affected include Abbotskerswell, Decoy, Ogwell, Kingsteignton, Denbury and Ipplepen.
