FUNDING of £135,000 for police in Devon and Cornwall will pay for more than 160 new Taser guns for officers, the government announced this week.

Some 41 forces submitted bids for the extra cash – and each one received what they asked for.

A government spokesman said the allocations ‘ensured forces have the powers, resources and tools they need to keep themselves and the public safe.’
